Chelsea Piers Hosting Expansive Sports Card Expo Again with Celebrity Appearances
Event will Include 300+ Vendors
STAMFORD — Collectors and sports fans are expected to show up in large numbers on September 14 and 15, 2024, to see famous athletes, a broad selection of rare memorabilia, and additional experiences. The popular, two-day event will include more than 300 vendors taking over 30,000 square feet of exhibition space.
The Northeast Sports Card Expo “will showcase a large range of new and vintage sports & non-sports cards, Funkos, memorabilia, collectibles, and more,” according to a press release provided to the Stamford Current, “The show will also include meet-and-greet celebrity photo ops and signings, on-site card-grading services, prize raffles, sports mascots, event hosts, and” other opportunities.
Among the celebrities in attendance will be two-time World Series champion and New York Mets legendary pitcher Dwight Gooden, former New York Rangers legends Rick “Nifty” Middleton & Ron Greschner, UConn NCAA champion Kevin Freeman, two-time Super Bowl champion Sean Landeta, Super Bowl champion Stephen Baker, and two-time Super Bowl champion Tully Banta-Cain.
There will also be appearances from professional wrestler Anthony Greene (also known as August Grey), actor Brett Azar (The Iron Sheik in Young Rock and Terminator T-800 in Terminator Genisys), and members of the FBI wrestling team, Little Guido (also known as Nunzio), Big Sal Graziano, and Tony Mamaluke (also known as Tony Marinara).
With paid admission, attendees will get free autographs from Freeman, Greene, and Landeta. Additionally, the first 200 people in attendance will receive a free commemorative poster designed by Connecticut artist Eric Panke.
On Saturday, father-son duo Mike and Joseph from the Sliders & Curveballs podcast will host the Expo and, on Sunday, New York Mets announcer, Emmy Award winner, and Stamford native Colin Cosell will serve as host.
Several sports characters and mascots are expected as well. They will include Bristol Blues Baseball mascot Mojo, New York Islanders mascots Sparky and Nyisles, UConn’s canine mascot Jonathan the Husky, Pikachu from the Pokémon franchise, and more.
General admission is available for $15 to access the Northeast Sports Card Expo starting at 9:30 am each day and early entry is available for $20 to access the event beginning half an hour earlier at 9:00 am. All tickets can be purchased here.
The Expo will take place on Saturday, September 14, until 6:00 pm, and on Sunday, September 15, until 4:00 pm. The Chelsea Piers Athletic Club will offer free parking available onsite.
