STAMFORD — This Sunday, September 29, the United Jewish Federation of Stamford, New Canaan, and Darien will host a first-ever festival to celebrate Jewish heritage and community right here in Stamford. Here’s what you need to know.
A press release from the United Jewish Federation of Stamford, New Canaan, and Darien (UJF) stated that the community event will be held at The Loading Dock, located at 375 Fairfield Avenue, from 3:00 - 6:00 pm.
The festival will be headlined by renowned music artist Kosha Dillz, also known as Rami Even-Esh, who will perform on the main stage at 5:00 pm. Since 1999, he has been rapping “and has used his strong Jewish and Israeli identity to stand up against antisemitism and support Israel,” the announcement said. “Along with Snoop Dogg and Drake, Kosha has a playable character in the basketball video game NBA 2K11. His song ‘Cellular Phone’ was featured in a Bud Light commercial that debuted in 2012 during Super Bowl XLVI.”
Dillz was named by the Jewish Journal in 2022 as one of “The Top 10 Jewish Reality TV Stars of All Time.” A year later, after the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, the rapper released a new song titled “Bring the Family Home,” in which he calls out antisemitism and urges that the Israeli hostages be returned.
Activities will include arts and crafts, a photo booth, face painting, tattoos, and other opportunities. Additionally, there will be a DJ with motivational dancers and giveaways for a dance party.
A specific room will be designated for children in attendance to enjoy age-appropriate experiences with Magic Al.
The Shul Band, house band for the Shul of New York, a progressive Jewish congregation based on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, will also perform at the festival.
Along with playing Jewish liturgical and devotional music twice a month at services, the release said, the Shul Band regularly plays concerts, private events, and parties throughout New York City and beyond.
Registration is now available for $25 per person with a maximum of $75 for immediate family members. Children aged two years old or younger can attend for free. Tickets are available at jewishfestivaloffairfieldcounty.com. Upon arrival, attendees will be required to go through security.
