STAMFORD — State Representative Corey Paris is reportedly in good spirits and recovering from a surgery conducted on Friday, October 25, to address an underlying health issue relating to his heart.
In late August, the legislator who serves as majority caucus chair for the Connecticut House Democrats revealed that doctors had discovered a “patent foramen ovale (PFO) - a hole in my heart that likely formed before birth and never closed.”
A source close to the legislator confirmed to the Stamford Current that the surgery was successful and he is on the mend.
The diagnosis has not slowed Paris down though. Prior to the surgical procedure, which was conducted by medical professionals at Stamford Hospital, he was seen crisscrossing his 145th State House District to canvass and speak with voters in recent weeks.
As part of his position with the House Democratic Caucus, Paris works to help his colleagues in tough districts over the finish line with victories of their own.
That means traversing the state and supporting their campaigns, which Paris has seemingly been doing as well over the last few months.
Moving forward, as indicated before the surgery, Paris plans to advocate for insurance coverage for PFO closures and preventative tests to determine if a person has a PFO.
In addition to serving the people of the 145th District, which includes the Waterside and the West Side neighborhoods, Paris also serves as Chief Impact Officer for Person to Person.
